What business to start with only 50k rupees investment
Hi everyone, I wanted to start a business, have been working in IT sector for the past year, and managed to save up to ₹50k.
Since I have no interest in the IT field, and day by day it is getting crowded with more freshers and frequent layoffs, I am thinking of switching to business.
Also it is a low paying job, that's why my savings are less.
Any ideas?

Great question — and a common one for first-time entrepreneurs starting small. With a ₹50,000 budget and a focus on passive or low-effort income, here are 3 business models that work well in the Indian market:
1. Self-Serve Product Counters (Semi-Passive Income)
You can set up an unmanned snack box, basic stationery kit, or even a power bank rental station at places like tuition centres, clinics, or office lobbies.
₹30–40k: Inventory + display box or stand
₹5–10k: Placement fees or commissions to location owner
Revenue: Per sale or per use (via UPI or honesty model)
Needs 1–2 visits per week to refill — no daily effort
2. Domestic Drop-Shipping (Passive-Friendly Online Model)
Promote Indian-made products through WhatsApp, Instagram, or your own site — and have your supplier ship directly to the buyer.
₹10–15k: Product photos, sample orders, basic page setup
₹20–25k: Small ad budget to test winning product categories
Choose items like: Home organisers, pet accessories, kitchen tools
Tie up with sellers from Sumvaad Bazaar or other trusted sources
You don’t handle stock or shipping — focus only on marketing and sales.
3. Digital Products & Templates (Passive Income)
If you have a skill (design, writing, Excel, Canva), create reusable products like:
Resume formats, budgeting sheets, invoice templates, Notion planners
₹5–10k: Branding, Canva Pro, hosting page
Sell via WhatsApp groups, creator platforms, or Gumroad-style sites
One-time creation → long-term sales
Many creators earn steady income with just 4–5 strong templates.
