Seeking Solid Chennai Human Hair Manufacturers

I’ll be traveling to Chennai this fall to connect with reliable human hair manufacturers and hopefully establish export partnerships.

I run a U.S.-based hair extension brand and am specifically looking for top-quality, unprocessed human hair. I understand that purchasing directly from temple auctions isn’t feasible, as those are handled by major brokers, so my focus will be on manufacturers.

If anyone has recommendations for trustworthy Chennai-based hair suppliers, I’d really appreciate it, as I’m not familiar with which companies are reliable or which ones to avoid.

Unsold Stock from Last Year

During last year Diwali, one of my suppliers convinced me to buy double stock, saying demand will explode. Reality: sales grew, but not as much as expected. Now a lot of stock from last year is still piling up space in my warehouse. Should I run a 50% off in this festive season? And are small retailers being exploited by suppliers during festivals?

@Neelesh Kansal Yes it is critical for you to push out existing stock. But if you frame it as a 50% OFF during peak festival season, then you can loose value in your existing products. And customers will expect you to extend the offer on your new product line.

What you can do is club it as a combo pack or a freebie in your new product line. This way you can retain the value of your new products and increase chances of clearing out old stock.

Thinking to start bookkeeping business for local kirana's. Does this even make sense?

I’ve worked in small accounting firms, understand basics of bookkeeping + GST returns. Considering starting bookkeeping / tax-support service for local kirana shops in smaller towns (Tier-3 / 4). Minimum investment, just laptop + smartphone + mobile data.

But everywhere people say, “lots of competition”, “everyone thinks GST filing is enough”. I worry I’ll barely get clients or have to charge so little that earnings don’t matter.

For people who tried this or heard of, does this makes sense?

Should I leave my Job to start business?

I’ve been working a 9-6 job in IT for 5 years. My savings are around ₹7 lakhs.

I want to start something of my own but confused between:

  1. Franchise of an existing F&B brand

  2. E-commerce niche (import + resale)

  3. Consulting/agency in my field

For someone with limited capital but decent skills, which is a smarter entry point?

Of the three you highlighted, E-commerce makes more sense, purely because of Investments involved. You can start as low as ₹1 lakh with categories like gifting, home decor, apparel.

🛡️ Is Your Brand Legally Protected Yet? Let's Talk.

Most small businesses in India focus on building visibility, but skip legal protection — which is what gives you the actual rights to your name, logo, or content. Here’s a quick breakdown of what MSMEs can do to secure their brand:

Trademark (for brand name & logo)

  • Gives you exclusive rights to your brand identity

  • Costs ₹4,500 (for individuals/startups)

  • Valid for 10 years and renewable

Thinking of starting a pet supplies business online. Suggest a Growth & Scaling Hack!

I’m considering starting an online pet supplies business — maybe selling leashes, toys, feeding bowls, etc. I’ve seen many sellers on Amazon and Instagram.

My budget is limited, so I want to go slow and steady. But I have no idea where to begin –

  1. Should I focus on Amazon first?

  2. Do I need to build a brand right away?

  3. Would platforms like Sumvaad Bazaar help in testing things early on?

Any guidance, especially from people who’ve been there, would mean a lot.

@Samriddhi

Before you dive into ads or business development, try to identify your top 3 customer personas (e.g., new pet parents, busy professionals, breeders) and then align your pricing, packaging, and listings to match what they are already buying on marketplaces like Amazon or Flipkart.

Also, a quick heads-up — Sumvaad Bazaar is a B2B space, meant for connecting with wholesalers, resellers, or shop owners, not for direct customer orders. But it’s still a great place to test product demand or explore supplier partnerships.

What business to start with only 50k rupees investment

Hi everyone, I wanted to start a business, have been working in IT sector for the past year, and managed to save up to ₹50k.

Since I have no interest in the IT field, and day by day it is getting crowded with more freshers and frequent layoffs, I am thinking of switching to business.

Also it is a low paying job, that's why my savings are less.

Any ideas?

Great question — and a common one for first-time entrepreneurs starting small. With a ₹50,000 budget and a focus on passive or low-effort income, here are 3 business models that work well in the Indian market:

1. Self-Serve Product Counters (Semi-Passive Income)

You can set up an unmanned snack box, basic stationery kit, or even a power bank rental station at places like tuition centres, clinics, or office lobbies.

  • ₹30–40k: Inventory + display box or stand

  • ₹5–10k: Placement fees or commissions to location owner

  • Revenue: Per sale or per use (via UPI or honesty model)

  • Needs 1–2 visits per week to refill — no daily effort

2. Domestic Drop-Shipping (Passive-Friendly Online Model)

Promote Indian-made products through WhatsApp, Instagram, or your own site — and have your supplier ship directly to the buyer.

  • ₹10–15k: Product photos, sample orders, basic page setup

  • ₹20–25k: Small ad budget to test winning product categories

  • Choose items like: Home organisers, pet accessories, kitchen tools

  • Tie up with sellers from Sumvaad Bazaar or other trusted sources

You don’t handle stock or shipping — focus only on marketing and sales.

3. Digital Products & Templates (Passive Income)

If you have a skill (design, writing, Excel, Canva), create reusable products like:

  • Resume formats, budgeting sheets, invoice templates, Notion planners

  • ₹5–10k: Branding, Canva Pro, hosting page

  • Sell via WhatsApp groups, creator platforms, or Gumroad-style sites

  • One-time creation → long-term sales

Many creators earn steady income with just 4–5 strong templates.

@Gurvinder Singh I’m not into exports yet, but this makes me wonder — how does one figure out which product category is easy or legally viable to export to Europe from India? Any guidance ?

Looking for a stable, simple business to start (preferably low investment)

I'm currently working in IT, but between my job and side gigs, I still find it hard to manage my expenses. I've always wanted to run a business — not something flashy, just something stable and realistic — but it’s stayed on paper till now.

Ideally, a business that doesn’t need a massive upfront investment (bank loan is okay if needed) and is easier to start without needing a big team.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Freelance IT/web dev — work is unpredictable and the market is overcrowded.

  • Food stall — failed due to unreliable staff and operational issues.

Ideas I’m considering:

Dear @Arjun Sinha , thanks for sharing your query.

Once you've locked in a budget and know your preferred business model (retail, wholesale, service, etc.), it becomes easier to shortlist suitable options. Your base city — whether Tier 1, 2, 3, or metro — also affects what's viable.

Assuming a budget between ₹5–15 lakh and that you’re open to renting a shop, here are some options:

  • Retail (Products):Essential stores like Kirana, undergarment shops, small paint stores, or even medical stores (requires a license) can offer stable returns.

  • Wholesale/Distributorship:You could get into FMCG distribution (snacks, beverages, personal care). Think Haldiram's snacks, local chocolates, or daily-use goods.

  • Service Models:Consider niche service gaps — like elderly assistance, hyperlocal delivery, or services for influencers (video editing, gifting, etc.).

  • eCommerce (D2C):Launch on Amazon, Instagram, or Shopify. Categories like fashion, home decor, and lifestyle goods are always in demand.

  • Micro-Industry:You can set up a small packaging or box-making unit — packaging demand is growing with eCommerce.

I want to sell online but don’t know where to begin. Should I choose Amazon or something else?

I have recently started making handmade home decor items. Everyone tells me to join Amazon or Flipkart, but I’m completely lost.

  1. What is the right approach to be taken?

  2. Are there better platforms than Amazon or is Instagram enough?

  3. Also can Sumvaad Bazaar help with anything?

Dear @Samriddhi , thanks for sharing your query. Starting with marketplaces like Amazon or Meesho is a good idea — especially for handmade items. These platforms have built-in customer traffic, but they’re also crowded and competitive.

Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook can help build trust, especially if you start with your personal network. Ask friends or family to place 2–3 trial orders and leave genuine reviews — that’ll help boost your visibility.

I’ve learned this the hard way after spending ₹5L on ads too early. Honestly, a steady organic approach works better when you’re just beginning.

That’s where Sumvaad Bazaar can help. It's not an order-based marketplace — instead, it’s a B2B networking space where serious business owners and resellers connect, promote products, and get leads. You can list your product here, get feedback from real business people, and build early trust before jumping into big platforms.

In short, start small, test smart, and build slow. You're already on the right path!
